Golden Raisins
Golden raisins also known as Angoori raisins are one of the best-exported raisins in Iran and come from seedless grapes of the Vitis vinifera variety. The harvest season starts in late September and Mid-October. “Golden raisins” are generally dried in dehydrators with controlled temperature and humidity, which allows them to retain a lighter color. It is mostly produced in Bonab and Malekan. Golden raisins are made using sulfur treatment, then shade dried in vineyards in order to get desired golden amber color. The maximum amount of Sulfur allowed in this type of raisin is 1500ppb. After being double washed, raisins are dried, coated with vegetable oil, stemmed, mechanically cleaned, laser and hand sorted then metal detected under extreme care of hygienic conditions and with legal and safety requirements and packed according to the customer’s desire. Golden raisins are favorite delicious snack and can be consumed as a dessert or salad too.
Golden Raisins drying:
After collecting the grapes from vineyards, grape clusters are conveniently threaded together in 2–3-meter lengths in order to allow suitable air circulation and reduce drying time, they are immersed in a solution of potassium carbonate, vegetable oil and water. The threaded bunches of grapes are then hung from the ceiling of shaded cellars away from the sunlight. They are then fully covered by plastic shades and then treated with SO2 for about 7-8 hours. Finally, the covers are removed and the grapes are left to naturally dry for about 2-3 weeks.
Golden Raisins processing in the factory:
After raisins delivered to the factory, the QC specialist take sample from every delivery in order to be tested in laboratory and if a sample doesn’t meet the standards the whole cargo will be rejected. Approved cargo is then moved to the warehouse. Then they are double washed and transferred to oven drying section. Raisins are dried by centrifuge and oven dried for about 6 hours. After drying raisins are coated with vegetable oil. Stems and stalks, and remaining foreign materials are removed using optical sorting, X-ray sorting, and hand sorting. then packed and metal detected under extreme care of hygienic conditions and with legal and safety requirements and the customers special specifications.
